Journey to Agra: Planes, Trains, and Taxis / Voyage vers Agra : Avions, trains et taxis

Aujourd’hui, nous avons quitté McLeod Ganj et voyagé en avion, en train et en taxi pendant plus de 12 heures. Notre journée a commencé à 4h du matin, alors que nous nous préparions à quitter notre paisible cabane dans les montagnes. Nous avons marché dans l’obscurité sur un sentier rocailleux, puis descendu la route de montagne, en enjambant un tas de pavés pour atteindre notre taxi.
Nous sommes descendus de la montagne jusqu’à l’aéroport pour prendre un vol vers Delhi. De là, nous avons affronté le réseau ferroviaire indien dans notre wagon de première classe à 25 $ – une expérience en soi ! Ce fut un long voyage, mais l’effort en valait la peine lorsque nous avons aperçu pour la première fois le Taj Mahal depuis le toit de notre hôtel.
Nous avons hâte de le visiter demain matin au lever du soleil.

Today, we left McLeod Ganj and traveled by plane, train, and taxi for over 12 hours. Our day started at 4 AM as we prepared to leave our peaceful cabin in the mountains. We walked in the dark along a rocky mountain path, then made our way down the mountain road, stepping over a pile of paving stones to reach our taxi.
We descended the mountain to the airport and flew to Delhi. From there, we braved the Indian railway in our $25 first-class car—an adventure in itself! It was a long journey, but the effort was worth it when we caught our first glimpse of the Taj Mahal from our hotel rooftop.
We are very excited to visit it tomorrow morning at sunrise.
